Holiday Costume Ideas

1. Vampire

The movies have made this where pretty much anything goes. Gothic vampire, modern vampire, teenage vampire, etc. You can go for a black cape and all black clothes. Or dress with a ruffled shirt , fitted pants, and jeans. You must have vampire teeth, a vampire bite, or red eyes. The paler your skin is the better. You can put a white foundation n or just put a glittery powder on.

2. Gypsy

This is a favorite of little girls and ladies everywhere. It’s a great excuse to put on too much jewelry and dangly earrings. The more necklaces and the lower the earrings the better. This outfit is very similar to the girl pirate but you want two earrings not one and your flowing skirt and peasant blouse should be in one piece.

3. Cat Lady

I am having fun with this one this year. Dress horribly. You don’t even have to try hard to dress bad. It’s much quicker getting ready when you dress down then it is to dress up. Mess your hair up . Put it in rollers. Big floppy slippers or big hospital shoes. You need lots of support and comfort when you’re crazy. If you don’t have 3 or 4 real cats handy then, use stuffed cats. If you do have real cats and you plan on going in public, you should probably put them on leashes. Don’t forget to carry cat food and donuts. And if you are a really crazy cat lady, get cat food that you can eat too.

4. Ninja

I think all the boys in my neighborhood have been a ninja a dozen times. They never get tired of it. It’s a classic. Even when your grown, who doesn’t stop to admire the guy dressed in black, with his militant boots, and bad to the bone weapons. I am standing back and giving these guys room. When I go in the haunted houses, I get scared. They don’t.

5. Princess

Some girls wait for their senior prom and some girls put on the ball gown every October. Who needs crepe paper on the gym ceiling to wear the best dress ever? And in October, you get to wear a tiara! Proms don’t do that.

6. French Maid

These outfits are a cross between classic and sultry, an outfit that allures to sex and housecleaning. Tease him with the idea. You can buy one or wear a little black skirt, black shirt, white apron, and buy a little white handkerchief for a hat. I can’t give instructions on the housecleaning part. It’s a good idea but I can’t be caught in the domestic thing even on a holiday.

7. Mad Scientist

If you’re an adult, you can grab a white lab coat. As a kid, you can grab a large white business shirt. Get a little bit of blood and a little bit of slime. Ketchup and relish or there are lots of candies that will do the trick. Wear a pair of dark black glasses. You can use an over the counter reading glasses and knock the lenses out. Don’t forget to honor Albert Einstein and make your hair stand on end. Tease it and puts some hairspray in it until it is standing on your head like you electrocuted yourself.

8. Scarecrow

Dress in old clothes with an old hat. Anything is game. Holes and frayed ends work best. Place straw out the ends of the sleeves, pants legs, and hat. Use a rope for a belt. If you don’t live in a rural area where straw is available, you can get some from a broom stick or shredded paper works good too. Using a black eyeliner pencil, draw a line across your lips extending to your cheekbones then draw little lines through that to make it look like a sewn mouth. Draw a black nose and highlight your eyes really well.

9. Pirate

Old dressy shirts and frayed pants work well if you’re a guy. Girls you can get by with a skirt of pants. Boots and eye patches. Lots of jewelry, One big hoop earring would be classic. Don’t forget to draw scars on yourself. Crazy eye makeup or scarred eyes. For hair you can be really creative, spike it, don’t bother to comb it, long flowing beautiful hair, or dreds. Be a punk pirate and paint it pink.

10. Sorceress

You can dress in a long flowing purple robe for a sorceress or a black robe for a witch. You will want a wand. The wizard can wear a pointy hat or the witch. Another good thing to include would be an amulet of some sort. A big stone or necklace with a large pendant or gemstone. You could also wear a chain around your waist with stars or gemstones on it.
